To permit further productivity and accuracy increases, the all-round machining centers of the medium-size HEC 500 Athletic • HEC 630 Athletic • HEC 800 Athletic series are equipped with a combined NC-controlled rotating and tilting unit. In this way, these machining centers meet all demands placed on 5-axis machining centers, extending their range of application in optimum fashion.
5-axis machining centers allow multi-side and complete machining in one clamping position. Case-style and prismatic workpieces with edge lengths up to 1,400 mm and 1,200 kg in weight are machined with high efficiency and great flexibility.

Machine Concept
 |
 |
5-axis machining center in thermosymmetrical design with high rigidity of all main assemblies
NC-controlled rotating and tilting unit for the machining of inclined areas and drill holes
Machining possible without axis interpolation thanks to overlaying of the A (swivel) and B (rotary) axes
Bearing and clamping of swivel axis on both sides guarantees maximum stability
B axis with range of rotation 0…360° and A axis with swivel range -45…+91° provide for optimum working ranges
Absolute direct position transducers for maximum position precision and manufacturing accuracy
Play-free direct drive for the rotary axis at max. 80 r.p.m.
High operational reliability of the rotating and tilting unit through clamping of the rotary axes by way of a hydraulic safety circuit, additional mechanical clamping of the A axis and mechanically locked clamping cones during pallet clamping
High energy efficiency of the centers, provided by a hydraulic system with accumulator charging circuit, regenerative feedback during braking of the motors and energy-neutral counterweight balancing
