4 axis machines
HEC 400 D
The hallmark of the HEC 400 horizontal machining centers are the highly dynamic characteristics of the feed axes, the working spindle and the work piece and tool handling. The machining centers are individually scalable to production tasks and are available in three models.

- HEC 400 D for alloys, cast iron and steel machining with 60 m/min rapid feed, 7 m/s² acceleration and speeds up to15,000 rpm.
- HEC 400 D with dynamic package specially for alloy machining with 100 m/min rapid feed, 12 m/s² acceleration and speeds up to 20,000 rpm.
- HEC 400 D with power package for heavy chip removal with increased drive power and reinforced machine construction.

Customer benefits
  • High level dynamic reduces non-productive downtime.

  • Flexible assembly-compatible total machining lowers production and throughput time.

  • High quality class IT 5 machining with long-term guarantee.

  • Best conditions for dry machining due to free chipping and the fastest and safest form of chip removal.

  • Optimum suitability to machining tasks.

  • Savings on transport, foundation and installation costs by virtue of compact design.

  • Comprehensive control and monitoring equipment as well as a modern service and diagnostics system mean increased process stability and low operator intervention.

Workspace of the HEC 400 D
Application
  • Particularly suitable for light alloys, cast iron and steel machining as well as heavy chip removal on small and medium-sized work pieces.

  • Automotive and utility vehicle industry, aircraft industry, general machine construction, hydraulics and pneumatics industry.

  • Flexible, economic machining for one-off, batch and high volume production.

  • Deployment as stand-alone machines, as production cells with rotary and line storage for work piece pallets and expandable to flexible production systems using system engineering modules.

Induction pump plates
Machine concept
  • Compact cruciform-bed machine build with thermo-symmetric design of machine bed and highly rigid main assemblies.

  • Secure guarding of the guide ways and measuring systems due to their arrangement away from the influence of coolant and swarf.

  • Use of maintenance-free rigid sheet metal enclosures as opposed to telescopic cladding.

  • Profile guide rails and powerful digital AC servo-drives with pre-loaded ball screws on all linear axes guarantee high levels of feed axes precision and dynamics.

  • Powerful main drive with motor spindle or hollow shaft motor for heavy chipping.

  • Innovative tool handling with NC rotary table for complete machining, rapid automatic pallet changing with hydraulic swivel/feed changer and primary-time parallel retooling on rotatable clamping position.

  • Flexible tooling management with chain magazine for 60 or 80 tools or with tandem chain magazine with max. 320 storage places, rapid tool change, tool identification with monitoring of down-time, rpm and tool breakage.
