STC 100
For decades, the efficient 5 axis machining of components from the aeronautical and space industries have been a major part of StarragHeckert’s core competence. Lay at the foreground of this vast experience are integral, complex parts like blisks, impellers, turbine blades and structural components.
As a logical consequence, StarragHeckert offers state of the art solutions for the production of compressor impellers and turbine wheels in turbo chargers. Due to the implementation of combustion engine exhaust regulations, the development of turbo chargers as a key market segment has gained substantially in importance. With the STC 100, StarragHeckert offers an ultra precise 5-axis machining center, developed especially for the economic and automated machining of these complex parts.

The STC 100 is regarded on the market as an above average powerful machine in its class. Not least thanks to the specially modified tailstock that differentiates this machine from the crowd, and makes it a viable alternative to the established mass produced machines.

Machine concept
  • The STC 100 is designed as a monoblock machine with vertical spindle.

  • The stiff, vibration-resistant machine base supports the moving column and the vertically attached longitudinal slides.

  • Above-average dynamic rotary axes fitted with torque drives and direct measuring systems.

  • The rotary B-axis is optimized by weight compensation. The drive torque is entirely at the disposal of the axis dynamics. Acceleration, as well as deceleration and braking, can be individually adjusted to assail any workpiece.

  • The linear axis accuracies corresponds to the "1+x G standard” and is assured by applying linear direct measuring systems.

  • Both available main spindles with HSK40 chucks dispose of an application optimized performance diagram. This diagram is targeted for a high chip removal volume with tungsten carbide tools in tough to machine materials, as well as the high RPM’s required when milling with small radii tools.

  • Despite its compact design, the STC 100 is equipped with a 60 position tool changer. Optionally available is a pallet changer with up to 12 standard pallets, as well as a clamping systems offered by differing manufacturers. Full automation is given already in the stand alone version.

  • The STC 100 concept is configured for optimized use without compromise; as an integrated machine in a flexible manufacturing system also permits easy access to the operator station, tool magazine, cooling system, chip disposal system, as well as to all service access points: an enormous advantage when starting up new component sequences – no interruption of the FMS operation.
