SIP 5000 Series

The name SIP is synonymous with highest technical precision in manufacturing
technology within the modern precision machine industry. SIP has always defined the benchmark when it comes to guaranteeing ultra precision over
decades. SIP machining centers are in operation worldwide where quality and precision cannot be compromised in any way.
The 5000 Series is designed and built specifically to carry out highly-precise vertical machining operations such as critical bore holes, precision chamfers, edges, and ultra flat surfaces, as well as precision grinding. SIP machine accuracy is measured in accordance with VDI/DGQ and ISO standards i.e. Positioning Accuracy (P) VDI/DGQ standard for a SIP 5000/5: P <= 0,002mm.
Thanks to the modular concept, this machine is available in both 4- and 5-axis format.
By the way:
At SIP, tolerances are not ascertained by soft, regional, Asian standards but are in
accordance with the strictest metric ISO or VDI/DGQ standards.

- In the precision machine industry every

the aviation industry. For this reason safetycritical bore holes and surfaces must be
precisely machined to within a 1/1000 mm (0,00004 inch). Special alloys that are hard
to machine, as well as titanium are being increasingly used for these special parts and

Machine concept

- SIP offers you the possibility to perfectly
attune your machining center to your individual
requirements. Vertical and horizontal
precision machines are available in 3-, 4- or
5-axis models.
- The machine’s closed frame and machine bed are constructed from high-grade cast iron (GGS80). The 3-point support guarantees superb stability and long-term accuracy.
- The longitudinal linear guideways that are cast in to the machine bed, column, and traverse axes (V profile and flat), are all scraped by hand. This method ensures that axis geometry is guaranteed without the necessity of additional compensation and adjustment. Large-dimensioned roller-bearings carry all moving elements (table, spindle carrier) and ensure a perfectly straight-lined and friction-free travel across the entire axis stroke.
- All of SIP’s machining centres are fitted with ultra-precise measuring systems made from top quality, stabilized steel scales that have the same coefficient of expansion as the machine’s structure. This promises enduring measurement stability and certifies measurement resolution of 0,0001 mm.
- The SIP range of high precision spindles, with highest accuracy, offers a solution for every application. For deep hole boring, SIP has a special spindle with precision quill. High speed spindles, with 30'000 rpm, and grinding spindles are also available with SIP centers.
- At SIP, scraping is done by hand. Starting
with the machine base to the linear guideways
and ball screws, to the spindle heads
and axis. This method bestows all our
machining centers with perfect geometry
and long term precision.
