SIP 5000 Series

The name SIP is synonymous with highest technical precision in manufacturing
technology within the modern precision machine industry. SIP has always defined the benchmark when it comes to guaranteeing ultra precision over
decades. SIP machining centers are in operation worldwide where quality and precision cannot be compromised in any way.
The 5000 series is designed to vertically manufacture high precision workpieces and
is used in particular for the fine boring and milling of holes, edges and surfaces as well
as for precision grinding. It is precise to 3μ and this with a repetitive position exactness
of 1,5μ. In the basic range the SIP 5000 is designed as a 3-axis machine; but thanks
to its modular concept it is also available in 4- or 5-axis models.
By the way:
At SIP, tolerances are not ascertained by soft, regional, Asian standards but are in
accordance with the strictest metric ISO or VDI/DGQ standards.

- In the precision machine industry every
component tolerance has an effect on the achievable accuracy of the complete
machining system. It is for this reason that the best machine engineers in the world
trust the ultra precision of SIP for the manufacture of quality critical components.
- Precision is a prerequisite for highest safetyin
the aviation industry. For this reason safetycritical bore holes and surfaces must be
precisely machined to within a 1/1000 mm (0,00004 inch). Special alloys that are hard
to machine, as well as titanium are being increasingly used for these special parts and
it is exactly here that the unrivalled strengths of SIP machining centers really pay off.
- Today, it would be inconceivable to think
of producing high performance and precision tools with lots of cavities, without SIP
machining centers. Thanks to their perfect geometry, highest exactness can be guaranteed
for the injection moulding process.

Machine concept

- SIP offers you the possibility to perfectly
attune your machining center to your individual
requirements. Vertical and horizontal
precision machines are available in 3-, 4- or
5-axis models.
- The machine frame, cast as one piece from
high grade cast iron (GGG80), guarantees
top stability and long term precision. Its
3-point support does not require a special
foundation and it will even maintain its
volumetricefficiency
rate on a slightly uneven
surface.
- Only top quality steel scales, produced
in house, are used in SIP machining centers.
This has the advantage that the unique
precision
of the machine, even with temperature
fluctuations of up to 1°C per hour and
4°C per day, can be guaranteed.
- The SIP range of high precision spindles,
with
highest accuracy, offers a solution for
every application. For deep hole boring, SIP
has a special spindle with precision quill.
High speed spindles, with 30'000 rpm, and
grinding
spindles are also available with SIP
centers.
- Thanks to their V profile on one side, the
roller
guideways are completely friction free
and can only expand parallel to the other
relevant components and measuring systems
- therefore guaranteeing precision. The
precision-ground roller bearings ensure virtually
frictionless movement. (P < 3 Micron
bi-directional positioning VDI/DGQ or ISO
standard).
- At SIP, scraping is done by hand. Starting
with the machine base to the linear guideways
and ball screws, to the spindle heads
and axis. This method bestows all our
machining centers with perfect geometry
and long term precision.
