With the introduction of the HX-Series, Starrag has succeeded in setting new standards in both technology and efficiency of blade machining. The goal of the development was to apply HSC technology (High Speed Cutting) to the rational production of turbine blades for the first time.
In order to avoid collisions, the machining of blades without length limitations requires a completely new machine concept. For this reason, the tool carries out the swivel movements in the HX, and not the workpiece, as in conventional solutions. To avoid unnecessary compensation movements, the center of tilt has been positioned in the tip of the tool. This was possible thanks to Starrag s patented B axis. The HX Series is not only a perfect example of modern mechanical engineering from a technical point of view, however. Various options make it possible to perfectly match the machining center to individual customer wishes. |
